civilian corporate roles in India
What does JustHR's veteran hiring service do?
JustHR places ex-servicemen from the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force and central armed police forces into civilian corporate roles across India — at zero cost to the veteran. The placement fee is paid entirely by the hiring organisation. Veterans register their service background once, JustHR translates that record into civilian language, and the team makes contact when a matching role opens.
JustHR was founded in 2005 by Capt. Manmeet Singh, who commissioned into the Indian Army's Corps of Artillery in 1991 and served in Siachen, Kargil and Dras before two decades of HR leadership at ITC Hotels, HCL Perot Systems and Oracle India. The veteran hiring practice exists because he made that transition himself.
Why do capable veterans struggle to get shortlisted?
The barrier is language, not capability. Corporate recruiters rarely understand rank structures, appointments or trade codes. A CV that reads "Subedar, 22 years, Corps of EME" tells a hiring manager almost nothing, even though it describes two decades of technical leadership. The same experience, expressed in civilian terms, gets shortlisted.
This is the single most common reason strong veteran candidates are passed over — and it is entirely fixable. Below is how service experience maps onto civilian roles.
What civilian jobs are available for ex-servicemen?
Veterans are most commonly placed into operations, security, project management, logistics, training and technical roles — functions where discipline, accountability and performance under pressure are the core requirement. Fit is determined by trade, rank and years of service rather than by branch alone.

Who can register?
Any ex-serviceman from the Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, Assam Rifles or Coast Guard — officers and other ranks alike, including JCOs and NCOs. Veterans already in civilian employment can also register to move to a better-matched or more senior role.
No resume is required to register. JustHR asks for an updated CV only when a specific role is being discussed — registration takes about three minutes and needs no documents prepared in advance.
Veteran placement,
answered.
Does JustHR charge veterans for placement?
No. JustHR never charges veterans for placement — at any stage, for any role, regardless of outcome. The placement fee is paid entirely by the hiring organisation. This has been the policy since the veteran practice began and it does not change.
Do I need to upload my resume to register?
No. The registration form asks about your service background, not for documents. JustHR requests an updated CV only when a specific role is being discussed — so nobody has to prepare paperwork before knowing whether there's a fit.
Do I need computer skills to get a civilian job after the armed forces?
Not always. Many operations, security, logistics and site roles do not require advanced computer skills. The form asks about computer literacy — including a "No Computer Knowledge" option — purely so roles are matched appropriately. It is not a filter.
How long does veteran placement take?
It depends on trade, location flexibility and current openings. One recent placement — an ex-Army Colonel into an Operations Head role at a manufacturing firm — closed in 38 days. Registration is open-ended: candidates stay in the database and are contacted whenever a matching role appears.
Can I register if I'm already working in a civilian job?
Yes. The form includes options for candidates who are employed or self-employed. Many registered veterans are looking to move into a better-matched or more senior civilian role rather than starting their transition from scratch.
Which locations does JustHR place veterans in?
Across India. JustHR is headquartered in Whitefield, Bengaluru, and runs mandates nationally — placements have included Bengaluru, Pune, Gurugram and other industrial centres. The form asks about relocation preference so you're only matched to roles that work for you.
What happens to my details after I register?
Your details enter JustHR's veteran talent database and are used to match you with civilian roles. They are held for 24 months from last contact, are never sold or shared with third parties, and are only shared with an employer once you've been spoken to and agreed to be put forward. You can ask for removal at any time on +91 6364 703 333.
Is this different from the government's DGR resettlement scheme?
Yes. JustHR is a private executive search firm, not a government body, and this is not connected to the Directorate General Resettlement. Veterans are free to use both. JustHR's focus is on placing ex-servicemen into corporate roles with organisations it already recruits for across Engineering, Manufacturing, Defence and Built Environment sectors.
